Level Billing will enable the citizens of Kaufman to pay an average of the previous twelve (12) months’ utility billing each month. If your water bill is normally higher in the summer months, you may now pay approximately the same amount all year. The new level billing offer is part of Ordinance O-12-00 which was recently adopted by the City Council. Residences only (no commercial customers) may apply for level billing and certain qualifications must be met before the application will be approved by the City.

The qualifications are as follows:

¨ Applicants must have a minimum of twelve (12) months of continuous service, in their name, on the City of Kaufman utilities, at any address in our service area.

¨ Applicants must NOT have had their services disconnected during the preceding twelve (12) months for non-payment.

¨ Applicants must have a good payment history with the City of Kaufman utilities, having no more than one (1) late payment within the preceding twelve (12) months, and no previous balance on the account.

Other rules apply to continue this service once established.

Enrollment period for applications shall be in March and November of each year only. This time frame is approaching rapidly. Please ask for an application when you stop by to make your payment.
